Introduction
Ty Pawb is a thriving community arts and markets hub in Wrexham, created by transforming the town’s old indoor market into a modern cultural centre. Today, it serves as a key social and creative space for locals, artists and visitors, hosting events, exhibitions and markets that bring the community together. With high energy demands across its facilities, Ty Pawb sought ways to reduce electricity costs while supporting sustainability goals and following a previous successful installation from Rawson Solar, they approached us again to help.
The Challenge
Operating a busy cultural and community hub means high energy usage, which was increasing alongside electricity costs. Ty Pawb needed a solution that could:
- Reduce operational electricity expenses.
- Mitigate exposure to volatile energy prices.
- Deliver measurable, long-term carbon savings.
- Minimise disruption to daily activities during installation.
Our Solution
Building on a successful smaller solar PV installation earlier in the year, we designed and installed a 108kWp rooftop solar PV system featuring 242 panels, alongside the existing 67-panel array. Together, the systems now offset 25% of Ty Pawb’s annual electricity usage, generating more than 109,000 kWh of renewable energy per year, with the majority consumed directly on-site.
Key benefits for Ty Pawb include:
- Substantial reduction in annual electricity demand.
- Protection from fluctuating energy prices.
- Long-term financial savings.
- Meaningful year-on-year carbon reductions.
The installation was completed in under a week by our experienced team, with zero disruption to the hub’s daily operations.
The Outcome
Ty Pawb now enjoys lower electricity costs, increased energy independence and a reduced carbon footprint. The project demonstrates that community spaces can benefit from renewable energy, proving that sustainability and financial sense go hand in hand.
Customer Feedback
Ty Pawb has praised the smooth installation process, the reliability of the new system and the positive impact on both operational costs and environmental performance. READ MORE
