Net World Sports Solar Panels

Who are they?

Net World Sports became a limited company in 2009 after owner Alex Lovén began selling cricket bats on the school playground. Fast forward 15 years and they are now a leading manufacturer and supplier of world-class sports, fitness, leisure, and lifestyle products. They stock over 15,000 items within their 411,000sq. ft HQ based on Wrexham Industrial Estate.

Requirements

Net World Sports sought a reputable solar installer to install solar panels onto their warehouse roof, this was to be done in 2 phases. Net World Sports approached us to complete the solar project on their new state-of-the-art warehouse and HQ in Wrexham. Net World Sports strives to reduce waste and conserve energy by investing in renewable technology such as solar panels, they hope to reduce their carbon emissions by 20% by 2028.

Our Solution

To meet the requirements of Net World Sports warehouse solar project, on our first visit to the site, we completed a full in-depth site survey to identify the key requirements of the installation. Carrying out a full in-depth survey allows our designers to put together detailed roof maps, cable routes, inverter locations and operational areas, allowing the installation to be carried out seamlessly.

From the survey, we identified peak times operating times of the warehouse, this meant we had set hours in which we could work on-site. Because of this, we ensured our installation teams were onsite early hours of the morning and at weekends to ensure minimal disruption to the business core operating hours.

At Net World Sports we installed a 1.479MWp solar system onto the warehouse. We installed this system in two phases, as per our customers request. The first phase consisted of 1008 x 420W panels. and our second phase consisted of 2,428 x 435W solar panels. Solar panel technology is advancing daily, meaning a solar panel with better efficiency was available during our phase 2 installation. All solar panels used in the installation are tier 1 and fitted alongside three-phase inverters.

As Net World Sports is a warehousing facility and supplier of sporting goods they needed access to their facility at all times, because of this we worked around their opening hours and installed the majority of the system out of working hours, early morning, evening and weekends ensuring very little disruption to the business.

Benefits to the Client

The solar system installed at Net World Sports generates around 1,130,000kWh of electricity. This would be enough to cover the electricity for 400 average-family homes a year. Net World Sports will be exporting all excess electricity to the Grid, helping to reduce carbon emissions in the local area. The payback on a system of this size is just over 3 years, meaning a cash-positive investment for Net World Sports in a short space of time. This solar panel installation will help to reduce their CO2 emissions by 259,129kg per year helping their drive to reach their net-zero targets.

The 1.479MWp system installed at Net World Sports was completed in 2 phases. Phase 1 was installed in just over 4 weeks, over many early mornings, late nights and weekends to ensure minimal business disruption. Phase 2 took slightly longer as the project was double the size of Phase 1, this was again installed around core business hours helping to reduce any disruption. This was made possible due to our extensive planning before work commenced.

All solar equipment installed at Net World Sports works with a handy app or online web portal, allowing them to keep an eye on the operation of the array.

The solar panels installed for this project are supplied with a 25-year warranty ensuring a long life of energy production for Net World Sports. With minimal maintenance required throughout their lifetime.
